Due to poor field conditions and thunderstorms forecast in the area for the rest of the weekend, today’s East Central University soccer Senior Day matchup against Northwestern has been postponed.
The team has been forced to move the match with the Rangers to 3 p.m. Oct. 22. Senior Day festivities will take place on that day as well.
The Tigers return to action at 4 p.m. Thursday, when Southern Nazarene visits the Ada campus.
Tigers fall to
The East Central soccer team absorbed a 3-0 loss to Southwestern Thursday afternoon at Tiger Field.
The Tigers fell to 3-10 overall and 1-6 in Great American Conference action. Southwestern left town at 8-3-1 and 6-1.
The two sides would battle even for most of the first half before the Bulldogs took the lead in the 22nd minute off a Memory Phiri goal. The defensive fight would continue for the rest of the half, as the Bulldogs took a 1-0 lead into the locker room.
SWOSU got its second goal when Ashlyn Collier put one past the Tiger goalkeeper off an assist from Kylee Bertrand to push the Bulldog lead to 2-0 in the 51st minute.
Southwestern scored its final goal minutes later when Nicole Petrino found the back of the net, heading in a corner kick off the foot of Erica Brunet to extend SWOSU’s lead to 3-0 in the 57th minute.
Kariss Dunson tallied two shots on goal for ECU, while keeper Mollie Nance recorded three saves in 90 minutes. Morgan Medina added three shots for the hosts.
