Saturday’s Games

At Hall of Fame Classic • OKC

Game 1

Konawa 1, Elgin 0

KONAWA 000 001 — 1 5 0

ELGIN 000 000 — 0 2 3

Hilary Kuestersteffen and Erin Fixico. Marty Zimmerman and Cauldwell. WP-Kuestersteffen (15-0). LP-Zimmerman. HL-Kuestersteffen 1-3, 5 Ks, Fixico 1-3, RBI, Amanda Prewett 1-3, Destiny Foster 1-3, Sara Reeves 1-3 (K).

NOTEWORTHY: With courtesy runner Brooklyn Ackerman starting the top of the sixth under International Tie-Breaker rules, Courtney Capps moved her to third with a sacrifice bunt. Erin Fixico then pushed home the only run of the game on a bunt RBI single.

Game 2

Konawa 1, Rush Spring 0

RUSH SPRING 000 000 0 — 0 3 1

KONAWA 000 100 x — 1 3 1

Fitzpatrick and Jones. Hilary Kuestersteffen and Erin Fixico. WP-Kuestersteffen (16-0). LP-Fitzpatrick. HL-Christina Gladden 1-3, Kuestersteffen 1-3, Melanie Gladden 1-2 (K).

NOTEWORTHY: Konawa found a way to again score the only run of the contest, this time in the bottom of the fourth. Hilary Kuestersteffen, who pitched her eighth consecutive shutout, led off with a single and courtesy runner Brooklyn Ackerman raced all the way to third when Courtney Capps reached on an error. Erin Fixico then bunted the ball in the air and the Rush Springs pitcher made a nice catch on the play and fired the ball to first to double off Capps. But during the double play, Ackerman raced home for what turned out to be the winning run.

COACHES QUOTE: “We like to make it interesting. We’re not hitting the ball too well right now, but we’re finding other ways to win,” — Konawa head coach Jennifer Matthews.

Team Record: Konawa 18-0.

At Shawnee Tournament

Pool Play

Tecumseh 5, Ada 0

TECUMSEH 020 012 — 5 5 1

ADA 000 000 — 0 2 3

Kim Billie and Paige Lenaburg. Ellen Estabrooks and Jenni Bolin. WP-Billie. LP-Estabrooks (5-12). 2B-Taylor Haney (T). HL-Nikia DelosSantos 2-2, RS, Heather Nunnally 3 RBIs, Samantha Lee RBI (T).

NOTEWORTHY: The Lady Cougars managed just two hits — singles by Jenni Bolin and Shelbey Franz — in the lackluster effort against the Lady Savages Saturday afternoon. Heather Nunnally’s two-RBI single in the second inning gave THS ace Kim Billie all the run support she would need. Billie struck out four and didn’t walk a batter. Ada pitcher Ellen Estabrooks also had four strikeouts.

COACHES QUOTE: “That was our poorest effort of the season. We have to get tough and score some runs,” — Ada head coach Sharon Dean.

Team Records: Tecumseh 8-4; Ada 5-16.

Up Next: Ada at Coalgate today, 4 p.m.
