NOTEWORTHY: Kennedy Large hit a grand slam, while Krosby Clinton and Janae Hughes also homered once each as the Byng Lady Pirates rolled past the Allen Lady Mustangs 20-7 Saturday in the third-place game of the South Canadian Shootout. Hughes went 4-for-4 from the plate with two runs batted in and two runs scored. Clinton and Karissa Shico each finished 3-for-3. Clinton drove in three runs, scored three times and drew a walk, while Shico knocked in four runs, scored once and walked once. Sydnee Fortner was 3-for-5 with a triple, two RBIs and two runs scored. Large ended up 2-for-3 with the grand slam, three runs scored and a walk, while Kali Dennis and McKinley Feazle each went 2-for-4. Dennis picked up two RBIs and scored twice, and Feazle drove in a run, scored twice and walked once as Byng pounded out 21 hits. Britney Brooks-Teel and Kinsley Goza were each 1-for-2 with one RBI for the winners. Kinsey Nix went 2-for-3 with a triple, two RBIs and a run scored for Allen, which totaled seven hits. Katey Read, who was also 1-for-2, had one RBI and scored once. Dennis got the pitching win, and Meegan Costner suffered the loss. Byng trailed 4-1 after one inning but broke the game open with a 10-run second inning before scoring four in the third and five in the fourth.

NOTEWORTHY: Sunzie Harrison and Savanna Yetter each launched a home run as the Allen Lady Mustangs held off a late Holdenville rally for an 18-17 victory Saturday in the Allen Tournament. The Lady Wolverines scored six runs in the bottom of the seventh — including a grand slam by Chelby Bowen — but came up a score short. Harrison went 3-for-4 from the plate with two runs batted in, four runs scored and a walk to pace Allen. Stevi Caldwell finished 2-for-3, while Maddy Clifford, Katey Read, Yetter and Riley Koonce each went 2-for-4. Clifford doubled once, drove in three runs, scored three times and drew a walk. Read hit one double, picked up three RBIs, scored once and walked one time, and Yetter, besides the homer, doubled once, knocked in a pair of runs, scored three times and walked once. Koonce had one RBI and a run scored. Kaylyn Rowsey (1-for-2) and Kinsey Nix (1-for-3 with a double) each knocked in two runs. Meegan Costner was credited with the pitching win in relief of Taylor Tollett. Chelby Bowen went 4-for-4 with the home run, a double, eight RBIs and three runs scored to pace a 13-hit HHS attack. Mikayla Richmond hit a three-run homer and walked three times for the Lady Wolverines, while Alijah Bowen also homered for the visitors.

NOTEWORTHY: Strother (No. 14 in Class 3A), behind 15 total hits, rallied for five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to edge the Byng Lady Pirates 10-9 Friday in the South Canadian Shootout. Byng’s Krosby Clinton homered in a 2-for-4 effort as he finished with three runs batted in and scored twice. Teammate McKinley Feazle was 2-for-3 with one RBI and a walk as the Lady Pirates compiled 11 hits. Sydnee Fortner drove home two runs, while Genesis Hill (1-for-2), Britney Brooks-Teel (1-for-3) and Kali Dennis picked up one RBI each in a losing cause. Dennis took the pitching loss.

NOTEWORTHY: Krosby Clinton and Sydnee Fortner collected three hits apiece as the Byng Lady Pirates upended the Holdenville Lady Wolverines, 13-9, on Friday. Clinton homered and doubled in a 3-for-3 effort as she finished with three runs batted and two runs scored. Fortner ended up with a triple, double, three RBIs and two runs scored in a 3-for-5 outing. Carys Brenan was 2-for-4 with a double, three RBIs and a run scored for Byng, while teammates Kinsley Garza (2-for-3) and McKinley Feazle (2-for-5) each finished with one RBI. Britney Brooks-Teel and Kali Dennis each finished 1-for-3 and knocked in a run as the Lady Pirates pounded out 16 hits. Dennis got the pitching win as only two of the nine runs scored off her were earned. Mikayla Richmond paced Holdenville, going 3-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI. Alijah Bowen went 2-for-4 with a double and four RBIs for the Lady Wolverines.

NOTEWORTHY: Holdenville piled up 11 hits and held the Allen Lady Mustangs to six Friday in the Allen Tournament. The Lady Mustangs also fell victim to 12 errors. Sunzie Harrison (1-for-2), Riley Koonce (1-for-3) and Meegan Costner (1-for-3) each drove home a run for Allen. The Lady Wolverines, leading 5-2, broke the game open with an 11-run sixth inning. Carley Tatum went 2-for-3 with two RBIs, while Leigha Phillips and Mikayla Richmiond also had two hits apiece for HHS.

NOTEWORTHY: The Prague Lady Devils totaled eight hits and limited the Allen Lady Mustangs to three in registering a 5-3 decision on Friday in the Allen Tournament. Riley Koonce went 2-for-3 and Savanna Yetter was 1-for-1 with a run scored and a walk for the Lady Mustangs’ only hits. Taylor Tollett suffered the pitching loss, allowing five walks and managing a strikeout. Only two of the five runs she gave up were earned.
