NOTEWORTHY: Katyn Denson slammed a three-run homer and Vanessa Yother had a solo shot in the third inning, but it wasn’t enough as the Coalgate Lady Wildcats dropped a 19-4 decision to Class 3A No. 1 Tushka in 2 ½ innings on Saturday at the Caney Tournament. Those were the only two hits of the game for Coalgate, which also fell victim to seven errors. Denson and Yother each finished 1-for-2 from the plate.

NOTEWORTHY: Katyn Denson launched two homers and Mallorie Humphreys had one blast as the Coalgate Lady Wildcats hammered Hugo 11-1 Friday at the Caney Tournament. Denson finished 2-for-2 from the plate with five RBIs and two runs scored. Humphreys and Annie Yanez were each 1-for-2 with two RBIs and a run scored as Coalgate compiled 10 hits. Mia Roberts also knocked in a run in a 1-for-1 effort and scored once. Humphreys allowed just two hits and two walks in securing the pitching victory.

NOTEWORTHY: McKinley Feazle and Kennedy Large each cranked out a homer as the Byng Lady Pirates (No. 17 in Class 5A) pounded out 15 hits in a 12-2 hammering of host Purcell on Friday in the opening game of a doubleheader. Feazle and Kennedy Large, who hit one triple, each went 3-for-3 from the plate. Feazle drove home four runs and scored twice, while Large knocked in three runs and scored a pair. Clinton, Brooks-Teel and Sydnee Fortner each finished 2-for-3. Clinton drove in three runs and scored twice. Teel doubled twice, picked up one RBI and scored twice. Fortner also scored three runs. Kali Dennis got the pitching victory as she allowed six hits and walked five.

Byng totaled nine hits as Britney Brooks-Teel went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs while teammate McKinley Feazle was 2-for-4 and scored twice. Kennedy Large finished 1-for-3 with a triple and three RBIs.

Roff was limited to four hits. Josh Lewis (1-for-1) and Brady Benedict (1-for-2) accounted for the other two. Conner Priest suffered the pitching loss after giving up four hits and four walks while striking out nine. Four of the six runs he allowed were earned. Benedict and Cooper Simon made relief appearances.

James Beach took the pitching loss after getting relief help from Tye Gould. McGowan homered in a 2-for-3 effort with two RBIs for Rock Creek.

Vandewalker struck out three and walked just two as both Canadian runs were earned. Tyler Lambert was 2-for-3 with one RBI for Coalgate, which compiled nine hits. Austin Lambert finished 1-for-2 with a double, knocked in two runs, scored twice and drew a walk. Hadyn Vick (1-for-2), Brock Williams (1-for-2) and Samuel Daniel (1-for-1 with a walk) each drove home one run.
