Thunder Basketball Camp  scheduled at ECU

ADA — The National Basketball Academy and Oklahoma City Thunder are offering a two-day basketball camp Aug. 1-2 at East Central University.

The camp is designed to improve the skill level of youth basketball players. The first session, for ages 5-12, will run from 9 a.m. to noon. Session two, for campers ages 13-17, will be from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Cost is $75 per camper. Scholarships are available at Trinity Baptist Church.

All campers receive a Thunder T-shirt and a ticket to a future Thunder regular season home game. Rumble is also scheduled to appear.

Stonewall to host basketball camp

STONEWALL — The annual Stonewall youth  basketball camp is scheduled for June 7-8 at the Murphy Roberts Gymsnasium.

Cost is $25 per camper, which includes an outdoor basketball.

Boys and girls in grades 2-5 meet from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. with campers in grades 6-8 to mete from 12:30 p.m . to 3 p.m.

Roff baseball camp runs May 31-June 2

ROFF — Roff head coach Ead Simon and assistant Danny Baldridge will host the annual Tiger Baseball Camp from Tuesday, May 31, through Thursday, June 2, at Tiger Field.

Open to players ages 5 through 12, the camp will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 12 noon each day.  The Tuesday session will stress hitting and baserunning, Wednesday will focus on fielding and pitching, and the final day of camp will include drills and games. 

Cost is $50 and includes a camp t-shirt.  Prizes will also be given to selected players.

Byng girls basketball camp June 6-8

BYNG — The Byng Girls Basketball Camp is scheduled for June 6-8 inside the Bill Koller Field House.

Cost is $40 per camper and includes a camp T-shirt.

Camper entering grades 2-5 will meet from 9 a.m. to noon and campers in grades 6-9 will meet from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Camp activities include fundamental instruction and drills, skills competitions and games, as well as awards on the last day of camp.

Cougar Basketball hosts camp June 13-15

ADA — Ada Cougar basketball coach Ron Anderson will be holding an Offensive Skills camp June 13-15 for boys in grades K–12 inside the Cougar Activity Center.

The camp will begin at 9 a.m. and end at noon each day. Registration starts at 8:30 a.m. on June 13.

Entry fee is $45 per camper.

This camp will introduce and develop the fundamentals of offensive basketball with emphasis placed on shooting, ball handling, dribbling and passing. Divided by grade and/or ability, skills competitions will also be played each day.

All campers will receive a camp T-shirt for their participation and prizes will also be awarded to competition winners. Brochures may be picked up in the front office at Ada High School or an online brochure can be found at www.adacougarsports.com under the “Summer Camps” link.

Another Battle of the Wall Tournament planned

STONEWALL — The second Battle of the Wall Tournament of the summer is scheduled for June 11-12 in Stonewall.

Entry free for the coach pitch tournament is $65 per team. A minors T-ball tournament will also be held with free entry. The fields are limited to the first 12 teams that sign up.

Tim McCarty Camps June 15-18 at ECU

ADA — East Central University head football coach Tim McCarty and his staff will conduct summer football camps for children and high school students from June 15-18.

A youth camp, for boys and girls entering the first through ninth grades, will be held on June 15th. Those in grades 1-6 will meet in the morning from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., while those in grades 7-9 will meet from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Another youth camp will be held on June 18th with those same time frames.

The high energy non-contact camp allows younger football players to develop and learn techniques at all positions from the ECU coaches and many current Tiger football players. Passing, punting, blocking, running, tackling, catching, kicking, returning and defending are all skills that will be emphasized during each session of the camps.

No pads are needed, just workout clothing – shirt, shorts and shoes.

The cost is $15 per camper for each morning or afternoon session Payment should be received during registration in the form of cash or money order only (make money orders out to ‘Tim McCarty Football Camps’).

A camp for high school athletes will be held on June 16-17.

The June 16th session will be an Offensive and Defensive Line Academy. The cost is $25 per camper as the session will run from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. with a break for lunch from noon to 1:30 p.m.

The June 17th camp will be an Offensive and Defensive Skills Camp, also at a cost of $25 per camper with the same session times as the day before.

City of Ada plans free tennis clinic

ADA — The City of Ada will sponsor a free summer tennis clinic from June 6 through July 13 at the Ada Tennis Center.

  The clinic will meet on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays of each week. Grades six and under will meet from 12:30-1:30 p.m. Grades seven through 12 will meet from 1:30-3:30 p.m.

  Each student needs to bring a tennis racket. Tennis balls will be provided. No prior registration is necessary. Participants only need to show up at the appropriate time.
