SAND SPRINGS — Ada High standout Dylan Fisher made the most of his last-minute addition to the 2018 Oklahoma Coaches Association All-State Large East wrestling roster.

Fisher defeated Juan Centeno of Altus 6-4 on his All-State match Wednesday night at Charles Page High School.

“Dylan getting the call-up was much deserved. He had a great career,” said Ada head coach Kyle Bohannon.

And oh, by the way, Fisher had wisdom teeth surgery two days before the All-State match.

Fisher’s victory in the 126-pound match was the first of three straight Large East victories that put his team in the driver’s seat. The East squad won the final five matches to claim the dual victory in the Large School match 36-19.

Ada High product Carter Patterson ran into a buzzsaw in the form of Yukon’s Studd Morris in the 113-pound match. Morris defeated Patterson 14-3.

“It was a great pleasure to see these two guys get on the mat again and represent Ada,” Bohannon said. “These two young men have been very successful on and off the mat. I’m excited to see what the future holds for them.”

Bohannon didn’t leave empty-handed either. He was named a Regional Coach of the Year at the All-State Wrestling matches.

In the small-school match, the Small West rolled past the Small East 33-14.

Sulphur’s Dan Baker, wrestling for the Small West, defeated Small East foe Mateo Pena of Wagoner 5-1 in the 220-pound match.
