The Ada A’s American Legion baseball team held a 9-8 edge in hits but was on the short end of a 6-4 score with the NTX Bulls on Friday.

Coby Simon and Tuckey Abney had over half of Ada’s hits, as Simon finished 3-for-3 with a run scored and Abney was 2-for-2 with one RBI, one run scored and a walk.

Kale Williams also drove in a pair of runs in a 1-for-2 effort, and Cooper Hamilton drove in one run while going 1-for-1 with a walk. DJ Van Atten (1-for-2 with a walk) and Cade Sliger (1-for-3 with a run scored) accounted for the other hits for the A’s.

Ada tallied all four of its runs in the bottom of the first after the Bulls took a 1-0 advantage.

Simon, who had a leadoff single to center, advanced to third off Sliger’s single to right. After a one-out walk to Daxton Carter, Abney singled to center, bringing home Simon to tie it at 1-1.

With two outs, the A’s picked up their other three runs off a Hamilton infield single to the shortstop and a two-run single to center by Williams to make it 4-1.

But the NTX Bulls countered with a pair of runs in the third and three more scores in the fourth to take control.

Sliger was tagged with the pitching loss in relief of Williams. Simon also saw relief duty for Sliger.
