A dinner held to celebrate those unpaid voluntary caregivers who provide services to friends and family is now evolving into something new for the McAlester area — a support group for those unpaid caregivers who provide so much of the help that others need.

“Why is Dustin gone? Why did this happen to him? Why?” officiant Matthew Heath-Fitzgerald asked while addressing the more than 150 attending a memorial service for Dustin Parker, the taxi driver who was killed in McAlester on New Year's Day.

The monthly meeting of Prime Timers is scheduled for today at J.D.’s cafeteria. Activities will begin at 5:30 p.m., and a buffet dinner will be served at 6 p.m.
