Dear Editor,

I understand Call a Ride will be closing soon.

As a resident of Ada and a patron of Call-A-Ride, I am very disappointed that a town this size, with as many elderly, disabled and low-income citizens, has not stepped up and made provisions for this not to happen.

My mother is 78 years old and uses a power chair. She depends on this service for everyday transportation. There are many others that, if not for Call-A-Ride, would be stuck. No way to go shopping, get to medical appointments, jobs, even getting their children to school or daycare will be impossible for them.

Is state funding an option? Fundraisers? Asking for donations from those who are willing to give, to help those who are in need?

I guess I’m hoping for a miracle here, but that’s what is needed right now.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and God bless.

Lena Ervin, Ada
