The Oklahoma Barbecue Society, established in August 19, 2013, began with some of Oklahoma’s most experienced people in the barbecue field and is comprised of barbecue enthusiasts from across the state. Membership includes contest organizers, certified judges, cooks and business owners whose goal is to raise the awareness on the state’s brand of barbecue.
Oklahoma is home to more than 15 Kansas City Barbecue Society-sanctioned contests each year from March to October. With a multitude of certified judges, champion cooks, barbecue manufacturers and barbecue related businesses, OKBS is here to promote and support Oklahoma barbecue. The mission of the OKBS is to help nurture the back-yarder and the weekend barbecue cook who may need guidance in the competition world or simply wants to improve. For the taster, the lover of all things cooked barbecue-style; OKBS can help you find classes to become certified barbecue judges.
