Mercy Hospital Ada was placed on lockdown Friday night after hospital staff received a telephoned threat from an individual.

Mercy Hospital Ada was temporarily placed on lockdown Friday night after hospital staff received a telephoned threat from an individual.

Ada Public Information Director Lisa Bratcher said, at this time, police do not believe the hospital is in any danger but continue to investigate the matter.

Comments on area social media pages and within social media groups initially reported the lockdown to be related to a shooting. Law Enforcement and Mercy sources both report there has been no shooting in the Ada area in the preceding 24-hours.

The Ada News has confirmed that Mercy staff received a telephoned threat of an unspecified nature from an individual known to law enforcement. The hospital was placed on lockdown as part of a standard response to such situations.
