Bone-chilling cold temperatures and a blanket of dry, blowing snow kept the Ada area subdued over the weekend.
Initial forecasts for up to 12 inches of snow were gradually walked back by the National Weather Service as forecasters got a better idea of how the worst winter storm in years was taking shape. Most of Ada and the surrounding areas got for to six inches of snow, although the snow was blown into drifts in most areas.
OG&E's System Watch web page showed 576 customers without power Sunday. Posts on social media indicated that some retailers like 10Box and Walmart were without power for several hours.
More snow was forecast for the area Tuesday night into Wednesday, possibly as much as six more inches of snow. Dangerous cold and low wind chill values continue for much of the week, with Friday the first day forecast to have above-freezing temperatures.
