Preliminaries for the Grand Awards Show continue at 7 p.m. Aug. 18 at the historic McSwain Theatre on the corner of Main and Townsend.
The musical performance competition offers local artists a stage and full band to back them up as they compete for audience votes in a number of categories.
August’s show will highlight the best local performers in both the male and female categories.
Performers in the female category include Haley Miller of Ada; Jaylin Pike of Stratford; Kaitlyn Anne of Atoka; Taylor Renee of Oklahoma City; Lela Dalby of Anadarko; Makayla Clark of McAlester; Mary Alford of Caney; Missy Rude of Pauls Valley; Shannon Herrod of Elmore City; Shayla Coplen of Stigler; Tayler House of Blanchard; Anne Young of Murphy, Texas; Cathy Lake of Runaway Bay, Texas; and Haylie Bagwell of Coffeeville, Kansas.
Male vocalists will include: Bo Posey of Wetumka; Brent Smith, James Self and Clancy Davis of Ada; Denmaun Hill of Shawnee; Wiley Winters of Pauls Valley; Michael Dalby of Anadarko; Mike Deviney of Maysville; Sherman Andrus of Moore; Stan Green of Edmond; Wayne Gibbs of Konawa; Marcus Leary of Dallas, Texas; and Neal Coyler of Keller, Texas.
Attendees can expect renditions of Black Shelton’s “Ol’ Red,” Dolly Parton’s “The Bargain Store,” Carrie Underwood’s “I Know You Won’t,” Reba McEntire’s “Fancy,” Taylor Swift’s “Breathe,” Keith Whitley’s “I Never Go Around Mirrors,” among other classics and contemporary hits.
Five artists per category will advance to the next round. The top five in each category will be narrowed down to one top performer in September’s show. The Grand Awards Show finale in October will crown an overall winner as well as the Entertainer of the Year.
Jae L. and Crossover, known for their monthly show filled with live music and entertainment, will perform alongside competitors. After the Grand Awards Show, Jae L. and Crossover will continue performing on the third Saturday of each month at the McSwain Theatre, 130 W. Main St., Ada.
Regular admission is $15, seniors receive a discounted $13 admission and tickets for children age 12 and under are $10. Special rates are available for groups of 15 or more.
