A Sulphur man is dead after crashing a vehicle and authorities are investigating the cause.
Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported James W. Jacobs, 65, was driving a 2008 Chevrolet pickup west on State Highway 7 three-and-a-half miles east of Sulphur when the crash occurred at 12:46 p.m. Saturday.
“(Jacobs) ran off the right side of the road, overcorrected to the left, went across both lanes ... overcorrected right, came back across both lanes ... and struck an embankment,” said OHP Trooper Heath Green in his report.
Green said the pickup rolled onto the driver’s side and Jacobs was partially ejected through the driver’s-side window.
He was taken by EMS to Arbuckle Memorial Hospital in Sulphur where he was pronounced dead from a head injury.
Green said Jacobs was not wearing a seat belt. Cause of the wreck is under investigation.
