Help keep Ada beautiful

Garbage and household furnishings sit on a curb on Ada’s east side Tuesday. Ada Public Works office manager Trudy Nevland said these items were collected by the grapple truck and taken to the landfill.

Some Ada residents and landlords say they are frustrated by an unsightly trend — people leaving junk, especially mattresses, when they move out of a house. But there is a solution.

“The grapple truck runs on a monthly quad schedule for free citywide garbage collection, one quad per week,” said Trudy Nevland, Ada Public Works office manager.

Nevland said the grapple truck is available to pick up non-scheduled items. A minimum fee of $20 will be added to the resident’s water bill. Large fees apply to larger amounts of material.

Residents wanting to request the truck can call Trudy Nevland at Ada Public Works at 580-436-8100 during regular business hours.
