ADA — In November of last year, Valley View Regional Hospital received an anonymous donation of $1 million and was challenged by the donor to raise an additional million dollars from the community.

Valley View Foundation accepted this challenge and formed the “Come Together” campaign.

The theme for the campaign, “Pulling Together To Meet The Challenge” is based on Ecclesiastes 4:12b: “A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.”

The three strands — community, hospital and physicians — are integral to the success of the year-long challenge to raise a million dollars for the hospital.

Raising a million dollars may seem insurmountable. However, it is the tough times that bring people together.

“There are approximately 14,000 households in Pontotoc County. If each household gave $25 to the Come Together campaign, we would be a third of our way to our goal,” said Shelley Ross Hamby, PhD., director of the Valley View Foundation.

“More importantly, the households are supporting our community hospital, a hospital that is there for them in their time of need.”

Several community members have already donated to the campaign to meet the needs of Valley View Foundation.

Jake and Abby Cantrell, owners of Cantrell Solutions, donated their time and talent to create a Web site (www.valleyviewfoundation.com) that could accept online donations.

Jason Bolitho, owner of Ada Hub, used his talents to create the logo for the campaign.

Local artist Loretta Yin donated her talents and created artwork to be used for the third annual Valley View Foundation Gala – “Dinner, Dancing and Diamonds.”

“These three individuals, in particular, stepped up and volunteered to help our hospital. We are so appreciative of the generosity of talented people. They make our community special,” Hamby said.

The campaign will kick off with the third annual Valley View Foundation Gala Feb 7.

Tickets are available for sale at The Diamond Shop, Eden Tree Boutique, The Brown Box/Alesha’s Nail Salon or Online at www.valleyviewfoundation.com.
