An Ada man was injured in an all-terrain vehicle wreck Saturday night in Roger Mills County.

Dearl K. Nickell was northbound on a country road about 1 1/2 miles north of Crawford, traveling at a high rate of speed on a 2007 Polaris Sportsman 700 ATV, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. Nickell came to a dead end on the road and was unable to stop.

The ATV went off the left side of the road, struck a fence and rolled an undetermined number of times, according to the OHP. Nickell was ejected.

Nickell, 48, was airlifted to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City and admitted in critical condition with head injuries. He was still in critical condition as of Monday morning.

An OHP trooper noticed an odor of alcohol at the scene and said Nickell’s speeding had caused the accident, according to the OHP.
