ADA — Author Bob Avey, formerly of Ardmore, will be at Hastings Books from 7-9 p.m. Oct. 14 signing his novel “Twisted Perception.”

The first-time author delivers a thrilling new novel questioning the lasting effects of child abuse. “Twisted Perception” tells the dark secret of Porter, Oklahoma, and the troublesome dreams that plague Tulsa Police Detective, Kenny Elliott, who grew up in the small town. When a bizarre murder investigation catapults Elliott into his past, he’s brought face to face with the fabric of his nightmares. A shiny necklace dangles from the rearview mirror of a vehicle where Lagayle Zimmerman, the victim, is discovered. Nine years earlier in Porter, a similar necklace swung from the mirrror of a Mustang that harbored the multilated bodies of Elliot’s friends, Jonathan Alexander (Johnnie Boy) and Marcia Barnes. Most of the town believed Elliot killed his classmates, but no arrest was made. Now Elliot must dig into his past to expose the truth.

“‘Twisted Perception ‘ is a promising mystery debut, filled with twist and turns you won’t see coming,” said William Bernhardt, author of “Hate Crime.”

Hastings is located in the North Hills Shopping Center in Ada.
