President Donald J. Trump has ordered a national day of mourning to honor the life, legacy and passing of former President George H.W. Bush. Dignitaries and elected officials, past and present, began to arrive Monday at the Capitol in Washington D.C. to pay their respects to a man remembered as much for his kindness and humility as for his steadfast devotion to the nation he spent so much of his life serving.

University of Oklahoma journalism student and Gaylord News correspondent Megan Ross has captured the mood and feel of the Capitol rotunda, where Bush lies in state as a nation pays its respects. Additional photos by Ross may be found on page A8.
