A Fitzhugh woman was killed in a one-vehicle accident Monday night on state Highway 3W near County Road 1500, about 10 miles west of Ada.

Dottie Coshatt was crossing the highway on foot to retrieve a ladder when she was struck by a 2004 Ford Explorer driven by Meeker resident Vickie Reich, according to an Oklahoma Highway Patrol report. Coshatt, 41, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Reich, 58, was not hurt. None of her three passengers — 65-year-old Meeker resident Daniel Reich, 36-year-old Shawnee resident Tambra Nuckols and a 9-year-old Stratford boy whose name was not released — were injured.

Reich and her passengers were wearing seat belts, but the Explorer’s airbags were not deployed.

Coshatt and Reich were apparently in normal condition when the accident occurred, and the OHP report cited Coshatt’s actions as the cause of the accident.
