Autopsy: Inmate died of overdose

Ada — The Oklahoma State Medical Examiner’s Office has ruled the November death of a Pontotoc County Justice Center inmate a drug overdose.

According to an autopsy report, 23-year-old Tammy Jorene Jordan of Ada, died from a massive overdose of methamphetamine, Sheriff John Christian said Tuesday. A Konawa woman is a suspect in the death.

A jailer found Jordan lying on her mattress, which she had placed on the floor of her cell,  Christian said. The jailer discovered Jordan wasn’t responding and called for paramedics. CPR was performed until Mercy EMS arrived.

Jordan was pronounced dead by EMS.

Christian said authorities are pursuing murder charges against a former inmate who had been in the cell with Jordan prior to her death, 27-year-old Summer Leigh Shaw.

Shaw is currently incarcerated in the Seminole County jail after she was arrested in January when she allegedly discharged a firearm on Konawa Schools property while a school basketball game was in progress.

Konawa police said Shaw was under the influence of methamphetamine when she fired the shot during a scuffle with family members during an argument. No one was injured.

After Jordan’s death, sheriff Christian requested an investigation from the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation. After obtaining autopsy toxicology reports, OSBI agent Josh Dean interviewed Shaw who allegedly confessed she provided Jordan with methamphetamine while the two were in jail, sneaking the drug into the jail via her vagina.
