Ada Cougars drill Dickson Comets

Ada —    Reid Kinder collected three hits, Garrett Beam homered and Dalton Wolf scattered five hits from the mound as Ada drilled Dickson, 13-1, in three innings on Monday.

Kinder led the Cougars’ 13-hit attack by going 3-for-3 with a double, two runs batted in and a pair of runs scored.

Beam’s leadoff homer in the third set the stage for a five-run third inning for Ada.

Wolf allowed just one walk and struck out five, as the lone Dickson run was unearned.

“I thought we had another good outing all around,” said Ada head coach Elliott Alberson. “I’m excited to see them continue to play well as a team.”

Joining Kinder in the Cougars’ multiple-hit category were Micah Simmer, who was 2-for-3 with three RBIs and two runs scored, and Scott Johnson, who also went 2-for-3 and scored a pair of runs.

Ada, which trailed 1-0 after the top of the first, jumped on Dickson with seven runs in the bottom half of that initial inning and tallied a single score in the second to lead 8-1.

Back-to-back run-scoring singles by Simmer and Kinder were the highlights of the frame, and Tristan Doffin’s RBI single was the only score in the second inning.

After Beam’s blast to left-center led off the bottom of the third, the Cougars plated four more runs to end the contest on the run rule.    Walker Whitworth had a key run-scoring single in that inning, and Kinder’s walk-off RBI double ended the contest.

Wolf also drove in two runs in the contest in going 1-for-2. Jake Boone was 1-for-1 with an RBI and a pair of scored runs. Gabe Simons also went 1-for-2 and scored once.

Ada was helped by four Dickson errors.

The Cougars are off to the Ardmore/Lone Grove Showcase on Thursday, when they will take on Wynnewood at 10:30 a.m. in Ardmore and Duncan at 3:30 p.m. in Lone Grove. Ada will finish pool play Friday with a matchup against host Lone Grove at 5 p.m.
