Two hurt in wrecks

Ada — Two men were injured in separate one-vehicle wrecks over the weekend.

Roff resident Tyler Grant, 17, was injured while riding in the back of a 2000 Dodge pickup truck driven by Ada resident Michael Stockdale.

Stockdale, 19, was southbound on a Pontotoc County road and made a left turn at a high rate of speed, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. He ignored a stop sign and caused Grant to be ejected from the bed of the pickup.

Stockdale was wearing a seat belt and was not injured.

Grant was airlifted to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City where he was admitted with a head injury. He was in critical condition as of Monday morning.

An Elmore City man was injured while he was standing on Interstate 35 in Murray County.

Bobby Howard Jr., 22, was taken to Mercy Hospital in Ardmore and was later airlifted to Parkland Hospital in Dallas where he was admitted with head, arm, leg and internal injuries. He was not listed as a patient on Monday.

Howard was standing in the outside lane of I-35 when he was struck by a 2009 Honda CRV, according to the OHP. The driver, 52-year-old Daniel Burgard of Benbrook, Texas, was treated at the scene for minor injuries.
