Ada — Daniel Thomas

STONEWALL — Services for Daniel Thomas, 67, Stonewall, are 10 a.m. Wednesday at Hickory Hill Baptist Church. The Rev. Larry Hawkins will officiate. Burial will follow at Hickory Hill Cemetery. The family will receive family and friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday at Criswell Funeral Home.

Mr. Thomas died Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014, at his home. He was born Dec. 6, 1946, to Woodrow Wilson and Emma Daisy Hawkins Thomas at Talihina. Mr. Thomas was a self-employed tile layer and a member of the National Guard. He was a member of Hickory Hill Baptist Church.

Mr. Thomas is survived by his sister, Elizabeth Robins and her husband Keith, Ada; his brother, Bill Thomas and his wife Katy, Tulsa; four nephews; three nieces; seven great-nephews; four great-nieces; and other loving relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, James Thomas and Darnell Thomas.

Bearers will be Matthew Pettigrew, B.J. Thomas, Lynsey Thomas, Max Barnoski, John Robert Hawkins and Bobby Pickens. Honorary bearers are Herman Stout, Leonard Monroe, John Thomas and David Hodge.

Lorene Anderson

BROKEN ARROW — Services for Lorene Veach Anderson, 97, Broken Arrow, formerly of Ada are 2 p.m. Wednesday at Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, the Rev. Susan Rice will officiate. Burial will follow at Wells Valley Cemetery near Bromide.

Mrs. Anderson died Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014 at a Broken Arrow care center. She was born Aug. 14, 1916 in Connerville to Hollan C. and Nannie R. Chester Veach. She attended school at Plainview and Wapanucka.

She married William “Red” Anderson April 1935 in Tishomingo. Bill and Lorene relocated to Fitzhugh in the early 1940s and then on to Ada in 1951. They moved to Broken Arrow from Ada in 1961 where Bill went to work for Martin Marietta Cement. Mr. Anderson preceded her in death on Sept. 11, 1987 in Broken Arrow. Mrs. Anderson was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. She served as a homeroom mother at Washington Elementary in Ada and a 4-H Club Sponsor at Fitzhugh.

Survivors include three sons, Grady R. Anderson and wife Nancy of Meeker, Bruce Anderson and wife Ruth of Claremore, and Steve Anderson of Gore; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Leatrice Bouse and her husband Fred of College Station, Texas; and a brother, James Isaac Veach of Del City.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Louise Smiddy and her husband Billy; and an infant daughter, Louella in 1937.
