Konawa removes Doug Isaacs as head softball coach

Konawa —    Doug Isaacs has been removed from his duties as the head coach of the Konawa High School softball team according to a source within the school system.

Isaacs was allegedly informed of the decision by Konawa athletic director Torrey Gaines minutes before the Lady Tigers were to leave for a summer league contest at Roff last Tuesday.

Roff softball coach Blake Crawford told The Ada News that Isaacs was not present at the contest, and assistant coach Bryan Lyon was with the team that night.

Isaacs replaced 15-year veteran coach Jennifer Matthews during the summer of 2012. Matthews was fired via an email forwarded by Gaines.

Attempts to reach Gaines, interim Superintendent Robert Neal and Isaacs were unsuccessful before an early Fourth of July deadline.
