Coalgate teen injured in accident

Coalgate — A Coalgate teenager was injured Tuesday in a one-vehicle accident in the Stringtown gym parking lot.

Trayzr D. Hefley, 13, was taken to McAlester Regional Hospital, where she was admitted in stable condition with internal and external injuries. She was not listed as a patient on Wednesday.

The teenager was riding in a 1999 Chevy pickup driven by Coalgate resident Timothy L. Hefley, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.  The truck had a bad transmission and was unable to back up, so Trayzr Hefley got out and went to the front of the truck to push it backward.

Timothy Hefley tired to put the truck into neutral, but he accidentally put it into drive instead, according to the OHP.

The truck lunged forward and pinned Trayzr against another vehicle that was parked in front of the truck.

Timothy Hefley was not hurt.
