Ada High School to host book sale

ADA — Ada High School Library hosts a Scholastic Book Sale Dec. 12. Books for all ages will be on sale for 50 percent off the suggested retail price. Ada Area Christmas Feast set for Dec. 17

Phone book collection contest begins

ADA — Ada Recycling Coalition is conducting its seventh annual telephone book collection contest for area schools.  The winning classroom at each participating school will earn a pizza party, and the school that collects the most phone books will win $100 from ARC. Intersection of 8th and Cherry to close

ADA — The intersection of 8th and Cherry streets will be closed for repairs for approximately two weeks.

NRCS sign-up deadline for EQIP is Dec. 15

ADA — Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), Pontotoc County, announces that producers need to sign-up for the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP), prior to Dec. 15, 2005, to have their applications ranked and considered for funding during 2006. Application for the program can be made at the NRCS office located at 1328 Cradduck Road, Ada.

Former employee reunion at Ada Dec. 17

ADA — Former employees of Hazel-Atlas, Continental Can, Brockway, and Owens-Brockway are gathering for a reunion Saturday, Dec. 17, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Central Church of Christ Family Life Center, 820 Stadium Drive. Attendees are asked to take a covered dish or dessert.

Call-A-Ride offers tickets for toys

ADA —Ada Call-A-Ride drivers and staff will exchange Call-A-Ride tickets of double value for the price of a new toy in its original package with the receipt or price attached Tuesday, Dec. 13 and Wednesday, Dec. 14. All toys collected will be distributed to children whose names have been placed with local agencies or are in the hospital.

Driver discretion will be used in the Toys-for-Tickets Trade Off.



Chickasaw Community Council meets

ADA — Ada Chickasaw Community Council meets at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 15 at the Marie Bailey Community building on Jack John Circle. A silent auction is scheduled and refreshments will be served. Those attending need to take items for the silent auction.



Lawn clippings collection day to end

ADA – The city will suspend the collection of bagged lawn clippings on Wednesday, Dec. 21, until next spring. Thereafter, any bagged lawn clippings will be collected along with regular garbage service.

ADA — Oklahoma State Fair checks are now available to pick up at the OSU Extension Office, 1700 N. Bdwy.



Pecan Food Show set Dec. 12-13 in Ada

ADA — Pontotoc County Pecan Food Show is Monday and Tuesday at the Pontotoc County Agri-plex. Enries will be accepted from 1-6 p.m. Monday and the show opens to the public for viewing from 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Categories include pecan pies, pecan cakes, pecan breads and cookies and pecan candies.

Board of Realtors hosts toy drive

ADA — Ada Board of Realtors is hosting a toy drive for the Salvation Army. Anyone can take a new, unwrapped toy to any real estate office in Ada for their donation, until Dec. 15.

ALLEN — The Timothy and Elizabeth Rinehart family needs clothing and other items after their home was destroyed by a fire. The following are the clothing sizes needed: Timothy — pants (40 waist, 30 inch length), 16 shirt, shoes 14; Elizabeth — pants (18), tops (14-16), shoes (7 1/2); Donald — pants (32 x 32), shirts (large or 15); Matthew — pants (6 slim and 6 T-shirts), shoes (size 2); Nathaniel — pants (6 slim), shirts (6 T-shirts), shoes (size 2 1/2).
