State DAR leader to speak at Edmond

Edmond — Pat McFall, state regent of Oklahoma Daughters of the American Revolution, will present a program at the Monday, April 21, meeting of the Edmond Genealogical Society at the Edmond Museum. Her program will cover researching the website online and preparing applications for membership.

The DAR organization, founded in 1890 in Washington, D.C., is a volunteer non-political, lineage-based women’s service organization that promotes historic preservation, education and patriotism. The male counterpart is the SAR, founded in 1889.

“The DAR recently started accepting a limited amount of DNA as part of the application process, and I will give that information too,” McFall said.

McFall, who lives in Edmond, has served eight years as a genealogy consultant for National DAR. She leads genealogical tours to London, Scotland and Ireland and has researched in many other large repositories, including those in the nation’s capitol.

The meeting, which is free and open to the public, will begin at Edmond Historical Museum, 431 S. Boulevard, Edmond, with a social time at 6:15 p.m. The program begins promptly at 6:30.

The museum is closed on Mondays and the building is locked until 6 p.m.

Parking at the museum is limited and can be a problem. Attendees should arrange for drop off or to carpool. For more information on the meeting place, call Edmond Historical Museum at 405-340-0078.
