Ada — Kids from all over the area will be wetting their hooks this Saturday, June 7th, as KYKC and sister radio stations present one of this areas largest community events, “Take A Kid Fishing.”
As in previous years, the event is held at the Ada Elks Lodge lake, and is co-sponsored in its 23rd year by the Chickasaw Nation, along with Mid-America Auto Group and Dr. Pepper..
Registration for this free event, which is open to the public, begins at 8 a.m. Saturday with the fishing event and prize giveaways starting at 9 a.m. For more information or to pre-register, contact KYKC at 436-1616. People can also pre-register at KYKC live remote broadcasts or from any participating sponsor.
“Take A Kid Fishing” is intended for kids under the age of 14 and a pole is required. Bait and refreshments are provided.
No fishing license is required as the state does not require a license on this particular day. The event will end at noon.
Grand prize for the biggest fish is a 2-man bass boat provided by Mid-America Auto Group. Other prizes include Frontier City/White Water tickets, tickets to Alligator Andy’s water park in Norman and bicycles provided by Wal-Mart.
“This event has turned into one of this areas greatest events, and we are so happy to be able to provide such a great opportunity for the public,” said KADA-KYKC-KTLS-KXFC General Manage Roger Harris. “But it is The Chickasaw Nation, the Ada Elks Lodge and our other sponsors that really make it possible.”
Last year over 400 children participated even with a 3-week rain delay.
