NOTEWORTHY: The Lady Longhorns broke a 1-all tie with a seven-run fourth inning in rolling to an 8-3 decision over visiting Kiowa on Tuesday. Tana Davis (6-3) scattered seven hits, struck out seven and walked only two while surrendering just one earned run in going the seven-inning distance. Three Stonewall players each went 2-for-3. Mackenzie Davis knocked in one run and scored once, Jessika York drove home two runs and scored once and Justice Dees, who doubled once, also scored twice as the Lady Longhorns compiled nine hits. Taylor Barrett was only 1-for-4 but picked up two RBIs and scored a run.

Team Record: Stonewall is 7-3.

Up Next: Stonewall vs. the Konawa-Wanette winner Thursday at 4:40 p.m. in the Asher Tournament.

NOTEWORTHY: Phylisha Chamberlain tossed a three-inning, two-hit shutout as Tupelo scored 11 first-inning runs and cruised to a 12-0 rout of Wanette in three innings. Phylisha Chamberlain (5-6) allowed four walks and struck out four in nabbing the pitching win. Brittany Sanders and Paige Vick each went 2-for-2 from the plate for Tupelo. Sanders tripled once, knocked in a run and scored three times. while Vick finished with a triple, double and two runs scored. Phylisha Chamberlain also knocked in a run and scored once in going 1-for-1.

Team Record: Tupelo is 5-6.

  • Cougs continue to win Ada stretches win streak to seven

    Gabe Simons jump-started the Ada offense with his three-run homer to left field in the bottom of the second before the Cougars pushed across six more runs in the bottom of the fourth, sending Sulphur packing 9-1 Thursday evening at Cougar Field.

    As senior Walker Whitworth was bombing in the final five 3-point shots of his remarkable Ada High career, he was resetting the school’s triples record at 151. Across the way at the A-Town Barber Shop, barber Erick Gray did not even know he owned the record of 146, much less that someone was breaking it.
