ECU soccer team falls to No. 13 Central Missouri



The top finisher for the Tigers was freshman Richard Mora. Mora finished 122nd, in a time of 26:49.6. Junior Enrique Jiminez was 143rd in 27:04.0 and sophomore Zacharie Jeandemange was 176th with a time of 27:32.0.

Freshman Bruce Bragg finished in 27:43.8 and was 193rd. Junior Taylor Nasu finished 214th in a time of 27:58.6. Senior Williams Baldwin was a spot behind in 215th in a time of 27:58.9. The final runner for ECU was freshman Noel Figueroa in 257th finishing in 28:46.9.

The Tigers will next run in the race at Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee Saturday. The race will be the final meet for ECU before the 2013 Great American Conference Championship.


Women’s Cross Country finishes 

16th at Chile Pepper Festival

FAYETTEVILLE, ARK. — The East Central University women’s cross country team finished 16th, out of 24 college division teams, at the 2013 Chile Pepper Festival hosted by Arkansas.

The Lady Tigers were the third team in the standings from the Great American Conference. Harding finished first in sixth and Southern Arkansas was 10th.  Arkansas Tech was one spot behind ECU in 17th, Southwestern was 21st, Southern Nazarene was 22nd and Ouachita Baptist was 23rd.

“The women did better than the last race, especially against the conference schools,” said head coach Steve Sawyer. “We didn’t do as well as we can, but I think we can get where we need to be.”

The top finisher for the Lady Tigers was junior ReGina Germaine, finishing 103rd in 19:37.0. 

A group of six freshmen rounded out the field for ECU. Corbin Ubben was the second to finish in a time of 20:28.2 and in 180th. Jennifer Swart was 182nd in a time of 20:30.9. Cheyenne Choate was 197th in 20:47.6, Brittany Ferguson was 251st in 21:35.5, Hannah Taff was 254th in 21:36.1 and Taylor Coss was 267th in 21:47.4.

The Lady Tigers will have one more race to prepare for the 2013 Great American Conference Championship, as they travel to run in Shawnee Saturday at Oklahoma Baptist University.
