Bethel edges Ada, 12-11

Bethel Acres — Host Bethel rallied with four runs in the bottom of the seventh to edge Ada, 12-11, in high school baseball action on Monday.

The Wildcats had a 14-13 edge in total hits as 10 pitchers were used in the game — six from Ada and four from Bethel.

Solo homers by the Cougars’ Micah Simmer, in the fifth inning, and Reid Kinder, in the sixth, were not enough.

“I thought we hit the ball pretty well but couldn’t piece it together enough on the mound to finish,” said Ada head coach Elliott Alberson.

Ada’s Walker Whitworth was 2-for-3 with two doubles and scored twice. Kinder went 2-for-4 with his homer, four runs batted in and one run scored. Simmer was 2-for-4 with the homer, a double, one run batted in and three runs scored. Teammate and leadoff man Dalton Wolf went 2-for-5 with two RBIs and a run scored, and Scott Johnson was 2–for-5 with one RBI.

Gabe Simons and Colton Blankenship also knocked in a run apiece.

The Cougars had an 11-5 advantage heading into the bottom of the sixth, when Bethel scored three times. The Wildcats then scored four in the seventh as they won it with a walk-off passed ball.

Reliever Jordan Carter was tagged with the pitching loss.

Caleb Smith homered, doubled and drove in four runs in a 3-for-4 outing to lead the Bethel offense.

Ada, 20-7 on the season, hosts Pauls Valley in a Class 4A District doubleheader beginning at 4 p.m. Thursday.
