NOTEWORTHY: The ever-improving Ada High golf team placed seventh at the Class 4A State Preview held Monday at the Lake Hefner North Golf Course. The Cougars finished with a team score of 330, just five strokes out of fifth place and 10 strokes from a Top 3 finish. Reed Townsend led the Ada contingent with a 79, followed by Casey Mankin and Ben Pruitt who shot identical 82s. Heritage Hall won the team title with a 297, while Piedmont standout Dustin Halsey took home the medalist crown with a 70.

COACH’S QUOTE:  “This was actually a pretty good day for us. I think the kids are seeing the places that they are losing strokes, and they also realize they are not far behind the top five teams. We easily threw away 10 strokes today and those 10 strokes kept us from finishing in the top five. They are making good progress, and we have one week to prepare for our regional at Poteau,” — Ada head coach Robbie Powell.

Up Next: Ada at Class 4A Regional at Wolf Ridge Golf Course in Poteau on Monday, May 5.
