Robson spotted at spring practice

Ada —

Upon entering ‘The Dunham’ — the Ada Cougars’ indoor practice facility — one wondered who the quarterback in the white T-shirt running plays on the far end may be. His moves are familiar. Perhaps a big No. 6 on his back would help.

Graduating senior Wyatt Robson, who piled up all the Ada passing records during his three-year tenure, was back to help out.

“It has been great. He is such a leader, as well as a performer that I can concentrate on the defense while he runs the QBs,” head coach Matt Weber said of Robson Thursday on the fourth day of spring football.

As Weber and his staff develop QBs and other skilled players, it seems O-line coach Nathan Elliott and defensive line coach Dusty Raper find themselves in the somewhat unusual position of having the most experienced positions.

The coaching staff was also bolstered by the return of 2008 All-State linebacker Corey Javernick.

Javernick will be a volunteer coach with the Cougars in the fall. The unpaid position is a way to get into coaching and Javernick said doing it at his alma mater was great.

Javernick, looking like he just stepped off a surfboard on a California beach, will finish up at the University of Oklahoma next year.
