Ada welcomes 69 to spring drills

Ada —

Sixty-nine Ada Cougar hopefuls piled out the doors of the Craig McBroom Football Complex Monday and Tuesday to begin seven days of spring practice. After two sessions up the hill on the soccer field and dressing out for the annual football calendar pic, they welcomed the end of a long day.

The numbers are down a bit, but head coach Matt Weber pronounced his sixth Ada Cougar team fit and ready after a spring of weight and speed training under taskmaster Trey Owens.

Only 14 seniors and a smallish sophomore class are wrapped around a good-sized junior bunch.

The spotlight was on junior quarterback Tryce Prince, more especially on the right knee of the heir apparent to graduated slinger Wyatt Robson.

After playing full time at defensive back and lots of offense during football season without a mishap, Prince went down early to a serious knee injury during basketball season.

In a preseason scrimmage against Norman North, a Timberwolf cut the dribbling Prince off. Prince cut one way, as he had a million times before. The right knee was having none of it.
