NOTEWORTHY: Pine Forest (Fla.) overcame an early 3-0 deficit to edge Byng during the Pirates’ trip to Florida. Byng hurler Tyler Pierce, despite suffering the pitching loss, allowed just two earned runs off eight hits with only one walk and seven strikeouts in going the 6.1-inning distance. Kiyaanii Bohan went 2-for-4 from the plate with an RBI and run scored while teammate Andre Davis was 1-for-3 with one RBI. Cody Luker, of Pine Forest, got the win in relief of the starter Brown. Luker allowed no hits and no walks while striking out four in the final two innings. Jake Brown Brown gave up just one earned run with just one walk and six strikeouts in five innings of work. After Byng scored its only three runs in the top of the first, Pine Forest responded with a single run each in the bottom half of the first, fourth, sixth and seventh innings. Clay Finley went 3-for-4 with one RBI and a run scored for Pine Forest.

NOTEWORTHY: A.J. Christy allowed just three hits and three walks while striking out nine and going the seven-inning distance for the win. Christy also went 2-for-4 from the plate with a single each in the first and fifth innings. He also scored one of the two Vanoss runs. Clayton Mulliniks was 1-for-3 and drove in a run for the victorious Wolves.
