Leedey drops Asher

Oklahoma City —

After upsetting No. 3 Tupelo in the first round, the fifth-ranked Asher Lady Indians couldn’t slow down hard-hitting Leedey in a Class A State semifinal matchup Tuesday afternoon at Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City.

The second-ranked Lady Bisons raced to a 10-0 lead before coasting to an 11-3 victory. Leedey went on to defeat top-ranked Red Oak 8-6 to claim the state championship.

Leedey pushed across three runs in the top of the first inning on RBI singles from Jessie Harrel, Blair Kauk and Makayla Baker. The Lady Bisons then exploded for seven runs in the third to pull away.

A string of five straight hits started the Leedey uprising. Macy Perkins, Gentry Meyer and Jessie Harrel all singled before Kauk ripped a two-RBI triple. Baker drove in Kauk with a base hit to push the Leedey lead to 7-0.
