Latta’s Storts to participate in OBCA All-Star basketball games

Latta —

Trent Storts, who was instrumental in Latta High School’s first-ever run to a state boys’ championship in March, still has some basketball left to play in his prep career.

Storts will compete for the Class 2A all-stars against a team of 3A stars Saturday at approximately 2:15 p.m. in the Oklahoma Basketball Coaches Association Games at Oklahoma Baptist University’s Noble Complex in Shawnee.

In helping guide Coach Donnie Husband’s Panthers to a 26-3 record and the state crown, Storts averaged 13 points, 4.7 rebounds and three assists per game during a magnificent senior campaign. He was also efficient with his scoring, shooting 53 percent from the field, 41 percent from 3-point range and 80 percent from the free-throw line.

Storts’ Latta teammate Jake Collins was also selected for the OBCA All-Star Games but is unable to play due to other commitments.

This won’t be the only all-star action for Storts this summer. He is also scheduled to play in the Oklahoma Coaches Association (OCA) All-State Games in August.

Other all-star games on Saturday in Shawnee will include the Class A stars against the Class B standouts at 1 p.m. and an all-star clash with the 4A, 5A and 6A stars, following the 2A-3A game, at approximately 3:30 p.m.

As senior Walker Whitworth was bombing in the final five 3-point shots of his remarkable Ada High career, he was resetting the school’s triples record at 151. Across the way at the A-Town Barber Shop, barber Erick Gray did not even know he owned the record of 146, much less that someone was breaking it.
