Ryan Luhmann has enjoyed the past several years as an assistant coach for the Plainview High School baseball team.
With the Ada High graduate on the staff, the Indians have made four state tournament appearances. Luhmann had been part of two first-round knockouts before the Indians advanced to the semifinals in 2012.
This spring was Plainview’s best with Luhmann along for the ride. Unfortunately, it came at the expense of local powerhouse Byng. The Indians trailed 3-0 and were down to their final two outs before surprising the Pirates with four runs in the bottom of the seventh to steal a 4-3 Class 4A semifinal victory Friday evening at Edmond Memorial High School’s Byron Graham Field.
