NOTEWORTHY: Latta, behind 13 points and five steals from senior Shelbey Parnacher, rolled to the 10-point decision over the visiting Lady Pirates on Tuesday. Junior Nelaina Baker followed with 11 points, and junior Krisha Young chipped in nine for Latta. The trio of Baker, Young and junior Laramie Edens pulled down seven rebounds apiece for the winners. Edens also ended up with four steals. Parnacher had the Lady Panthers’ only 3-pointer. Kamy Walck led Dale with eight points, including a pair of treys. Latta jumped out to a 9-4 advantage after one quarter and went on to a 25-11 halftime lead. It was 32-22 in favor of the Lady Panthers through three quarters.

COACH’S QUOTE: “We had a great defensive effort. Dale can score. We had a little letdown in the third quarter. We kind of matched them in intensity in the second half, overall. Our scoring was fairly balanced, and I hope it stays that way the rest of the season.” — Latta head coach David Tinkler.

NOTEWORTHY: Sophomore forward Shelby Fleming fired in 30 points and pulled down 20 rebounds as the Lady Indians rolled to a 12-point win over Earlsboro on Tuesday night. Freshman guard Tarin Dubler followed with 16 points, including two 3-pointers, and Tristan Milburn chipped in eight points and dished out 10 assists. Kourtney Jones, behind four 3-pointers, tossed in 25 points, and Megan Ashley contributed 10 to pace the Lady Wildcats. Asher trailed 12-10 before taking a 21-18 halftime advantage. The Lady Indians led 42-31 after three quarters. The Lady Indians snapped Earlboro’s season-opening five-game win streak.
