OU's Patty Gasso to speak at Fellowship of Christian Athletes event

Ada —      The Fellowship of Christian Athletes will hold its second Women's Ministry Event on Sunday, Nov. 17, at 5:30 p.m. at The Source building on Main Street.

The featured guest speaker will be University of Oklahoma head softball coach Patty Gasso.

Having completed her 19th season at the University of Oklahoma, NFCA Hall of Fame head coach Gasso has molded the OU softball program into a national power and permanently placed herself among the elite college softball coaches in the country.

The Sooners have reached the Women’s College World Series eight times during her tenure, and in the process, advanced to the postseason in each one of her seasons. The WCWS run began in 2000, when her team won the NCAA National Championship in OU’s first appearance and continued through the 2013 campaign, when the team won its second national championship, becoming just the fifth program to win multiple national titles.

With 23 seasons as a head coach to her name, Gasso has a career collegiate coaching record of 1089-342-3 (.760) and holds an overall record of 928-283-2 (.766) at the University of Oklahoma. She has won more Big 12 games (243-79) than any coach in the league’s history and has twice as many wins as any other coach in OU history.

This event is for all women and will include a meal. There is limited seating, and reservations are recommended.

Please email or call 580-235-6220 for more information.

  • Whitworth resets Ada's 3-point record

As senior Walker Whitworth was bombing in the final five 3-point shots of his remarkable Ada High career, he was resetting the school’s triples record at 151. Across the way at the A-Town Barber Shop, barber Erick Gray did not even know he owned the record of 146, much less that someone was breaking it.
