NOTEWORTHY: Breann Gipson hit a two-run homer while Kim Helms and Justice Dees collected two hits apiece as Class 2A fourth-ranked Stonewall knocked off host 2A eighth-ranked Roff 8-3 on Monday. Helms went 2-for-2 with one RBI and two runs scored, while Dees was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored. Gipson was 1-for-1 with two RBIs and two runs scored. For Roff, Lauren Trimmer went 3-for-3 with a homer, two RBIs and a pair of runs scored. The Lady Longhorns held a 6-5 edge in total hits.

NOTEWORTHY: Jordyn Scott hit a two-run homer while four other Lady Panthers had two hits each as Class 4A seventh-ranked Latta topped 4A sixth-ranked Davis, 8-4, on Monday. Carlee Henderson and Brianna Hanson were each 2-for-3 from the plate for the Lady Panthers, as Henderson drove in two runs and scored twice. Makenzi Lamb and Tyler Whitney were each 2-for-4 with an RBI for Latta, as Lamb also scored a run. The Lady Panthers had a 12-8 advantage in total hits.

Record: Latta is 11-9.

NOTEWORTHY: Class 5A sixth-ranked Byng collected 11 hits in routing Seminole 12-1 in a home festival on Monday. Ragyn Geiger went 3-for-3 with two doubles, four runs batted in and three runs scored to fuel the Lady Pirate offense. Teammate Layna Abbott went 2-for-3 with one RBI and two runs scored, and Alexis Hill was 2-for-2 with a pair of runs scored and a walk. Breecia Crawford went 1-for-2 with a double, one RBI, one run scored and a walk.

NOTEWORTHY: Class 4A third-ranked Tushka pounded out 13 hits and limited Byng to one in the 14-0 win in a three-way event at Byng. The Lady Pirates’ only hit came on a double by Breana Warner. Byng batted through the lineup only once and was one of only two players to bat twice.

Record: Byng is 15-6

NOTEWORTHY: Brittany Sanders went 3-for-3 from the plate with a double and two runs batted and also got the pitching win as Tupelo (No. 3 in Class A) topped host Stratford, 5-2, on Monday. Kate McCoy contributed to the Lady Tiger offense by going 2-for-3 with a run scored. Teammate Keara Bourland was 1-for-2 and scored a run, and Kurtson Chamberlain added a triple. Hattler and Hillis each went 2-for-3 from the plate for Stratford (No. 2 in Class 3A).

NOTEWORTHY: Tupelo pounded out 17 hits as Brittany Sanders went 4-for-4 from the plate and drove home four runs in the Lady Tigers’ 10-2 victory over Mill Creek in six innings. Teammate Kayley Sanders was 3-for-4 with three runs batted in and two runs scored. Courtney Hickman (2-for-4 with two RBIs), Kurston Chamberlain (2-for-3 with a run scored) and Kristyn Parker (2-for-3) had multiple hits.

Record: Tupelo is 18-5.

NOTEWORTHY: Class 4A top-ranked Dale downed Konawa 9-2 on Monday. Allison Yellowfish went 2-for-3 with two runs batted in, while teammates Renee Rutherford, Brooke Snow, Tara Madron and Campbell finished with two hits apiece in a losing cause.

COACH’S QUOTE: “We competed with Dale pretty well but made too many defensive mistakes to beat the No. 1 team in (Class) 4A. On a positive note, we did have 13 hits against them. We will work hard in the coming days to correct those mistakes and continue to improve as we approach the playoffs,” — Konawa head coach Doug Isaacs.

NOTEWORTHY: Konawa outhit Seminole by a 12-6 margin but committed four costly errors as the Lady Chieftains picked up the win in the Wetumka Tournament. Allison Yellowfish and Cheasa Coon each went 3-for-3 from the plate to fuel the Lady Tiger offense.

NOTEWORTHY: Konawa compiled 16 hits as six Lady Tigers had two apiece in a 14-1 rout of Wilson in four innings at the Wetumka Tournament. Allison Yellowfish went 2-for-3 and drove in four runs. Cheasa Coon was also 2-for-3 and knocked in three runs. Racheal Sharp (2-for-3 with two RBIs) and Brooke Snow (2-for-3 with one RBI) also contributed big to the Lady Tiger offense. Tara Madron and Erin Issacs also had two hits each for Konawa, which scored seven first-inning runs before adding four in the second and three more in the fourth.

NOTEWORTHY: The Lady Tigers pounded out 16 hits but left too many runners stranded and committed three errors in dropping the one-run decision to Class 5A 12th-ranked Holdenville. Erin Isaacs went 3-for-4 and knocked in three runs for Konawa, while teammate Allison Yellowfish was 2-for-4 with two runs batted in. Tara Madron and Haley Terry also compiled three hits each for the Lady Tigers in a losing cause.

COACH’S QUOTE: “We hit the ball pretty well against a highly-ranked (Class) 5A team, but we did leave some base runners stranded at critical points in the game. We also had three very costly errors. We just have to clean that up and play better down the stretch,” — Konawa head coach Doug Isaacs.

At Colbert Tournament

NOTEWORTHY: Taylor Canida collected three hits and drove in two runs, while Lauren Trimmer finished with a triple, double and two runs batted in as Roff blanked Coalgate in the Colbert Tournament on Friday. Canida was a perfect 3-for-3 from the plate, and Trimmer went 2-for-3 and scored a pair of runs. Trimmer also tossed a seven-hit shutout. Jalee Hood also went 2-for-3 from the plate for the Lady Tigers, who finished with 13 hits. Roff scored five first-inning runs to take control early.

NOTEWORTHY: Breann Gipson went 3-for-4, homered, drove home four runs and scored three times as Stonewall upended Roff 10-5 in the Colbert Tournament on Friday. Jordan Pharr, who got the pitching win, also had a big game from the plate, going 3-for-3 and scoring twice. For Roff, Taylor Canida went 3-for-4 and knocked in two runs, and Casey Kelley was 3-for-4 with one RBI and a run scored. Leading 6-5, the Lady Longhorns broke open the game with a four-run sixth inning.

NOTEWORTHY: Lauren Trimmer homered while Ashley Cornell and Jalee Hood collected three hits apiece as Roff knocked off host Colbert 9-6 in the Colbert Tournament on Friday. Trimmer, in going 2-for-4, drove home three runs and scored once. Cornell and Hood each went 3-for-3 with one RBI and scored once. The victorious Lady Tigers pounded out 17 hits compared to Colbert’s 12. Roff broke a 3-3 deadlock with a six-run fifth inning. Colbert pulled within the final two-run margin with four runs in the seventh.

NOTEWORTHY: In a Colbert Tournament third-place game played at Roff on Saturday, the Lady Tigers came away with the 5-1 decision over Latta. Lauren Trimmer homered, drove in three runs and scored once while getting the pitching win. Mckenzi Lamb went 3-for-4 from the plate and scored the Lady Panthers’ only run. Roff took a 1-0 advantage in the top of the second and scored three times in the third before Latta picked up its only score in the bottom half of that frame. The Lady Tigers picked up another run in the fourth to close out the scoring. Roff had a 9-7 edge in total hits.
