Ada scrimmage held indoors

Weber likes what he sees from final 2013 spring workout

Ada —

The lore for The Dunham, the Ada Cougars’ huge indoor practice facility opened in 2008, has it that the first unofficial athletic event came near the finishing touches on the building.

It is said that during a break on a particularly hot day, two Latino workers from the crew marked off a goal by standing up cowboy boots and had a one-on-one soccer game.

The second event would have to be the rock’em and sock’em indoor scrimmage that ended spring ball Tuesday.

Head coach Mattt Weber and his staff got up close and personal looks at each and all of the 65-member squad.

The 80 by 50 yard turf was marked off sideways to give the players a more wide-open play area.

The walls surrounding the playing area had clumps of die-hard fans watching and offering advice.
