Latta’s Husband named OBCA Coach of the Year; Storts plays in all-star game

Shawnee — The Oklahoma Basketball Coaches Association All-Star Games had a Latta High School feel on Saturday as it was announced that head coach Donnie Husband was named OBCA Coach of the Year while guard Trent Storts helped the Class 2A stars knock off the Class 3A standouts by an 86-75 count.

Husband guided the Panthers to their first-ever boys’ basketball state championship in March with a 29-3 record.

Storts tallied two points and added a pair of assists for the 2A stars in Saturday’s game at Oklahoma Baptist University’s Noble Complex. Storts averaged 13 points, 4.7 rebounds and three assists during a magnificent senior season which wrapped up with the 2012-13 state title.

Ketchum’s Jeylyn Sharpe knocked down a perfect 7-of-7 shots, including two from 3-point range, for the 2A all-star squad. Carnegie’s Jonathan Bronaugh added 15 points and pulled down 12 rebounds for a double-double and Fairview’s Bryce Kippenberger added 11 points, including three 3-pointers for the winning squad.

Chandler’s Cody Campbell topped the 3A stars with 15 points, Plainview’s Deric Shelton followed with 13 and  Adair’s Brady Bradbury ended up with 12 in a losing cause.
