Jennings notches win No. 200

Ada — The Class 4A sixth-ranked Ada Lady Cougars used balanced scoring and placed four players in double figures in claiming a 71-14 victory Saturday inside the Cougar Activity Center.

The Lady Cougars improved to 14-4 on the year while Duncan fell to 1-16. It also marked career win No. 200 for Ada head coach Christie Jennings.

“This was a good bounce-back game after a tough loss to Harrah. We were glad to get another notch in the win column,” said Ada head coach Christie Jennings.

Meneé Thomsen tossed in 12 points while Markeisha Black, Devanee Simmons and Dembri Weeks finished with 11 apiece for Ada, which improved to 14-4 on the season and rebounded from a Friday loss to third-ranked Harrah.

Thomsen hit a pair of 3-pointers and dished out four assists. Black hit one trey and pulled down 10 rebounds on her way to a double-double. Simmons connected on a game-high three 3-pointers and Weeks knocked down two long-range shots.

Aaliyah Blakley tossed in eight points and recorded six steals and Sami Jewett scored six points, via a pair of treys, and grabbed six boards. Olivia Wells contributed six points and seven rebounds for the Lady Cougars.

The Lady Cougars set the tone early by taking a commanding 29-7 lead after one quarter and led 50-10 at halftime. It was 61-14 through three periods as Ada outscored the Lady Demons, 10-0, in the fourth.

Tania Elix topped Duncan with five points.

Tuesday’s home games against rival McAlester were canceled due to the snowy weather. The Ada girls and boys basketball teams will travel to Durant on Friday.
