NOTEWORTHY: Four Latta players reached double figures as the Class 2A second-ranked Panthers upended 2A 14th-ranked Ketchum on Saturday at the Muskogee Civic Center. Kade Hayes sank three 3-pointers and finished with 13 points to spark Latta. Brogan Cantrell and Derek Epperly followed with 11 points each. Cantrell grabbed six rebounds and handed out four assists. Epperly snatched 10 boards to finish with a double-double and Brady Johnson ended up with 10 points, including two treys, to go with six rebounds and four assists. The Panthers, clinging to a slim 13-12 lead after the first quarter, went on an 18-7 run in the second for a 31-19 halftime advantage. Latta then owned a 40-26 cushion, heading into the fourth quarter. Tanner Mouse paced Ketchum with 24 points.

COACH’S QUOTE: “It was a good quality win against a good team on a neutral court. Our defense was good the whole game. We held them to 24 percent shooting and 5-of-23 three-point shooting. We did a good job against their complimentary players. Mouse had to take a lot of shots to get his 24 points. We weren’t great offensively, but we did enough to win,” — Latta head coach Donnie Husband.

Record: Latta 14-3; Ketchum 13-5.

Up Next: Latta at Konawa Friday.

The Bulldogs trailed 10-8 after one quarter, but outscored the Wildcats 17-12 in the second for a 25-22 halftime lead. Stratford led 50-31 through three quarters.

COACH’S QUOTE: “We got off to a slow start offensively. Our defense pretty much kept us in the game in the first half. We shot the ball better in the third quarter. In fact, all five of our 3’s came in the third quarter. We built up a 19-point lead going into the fourth quarter, but got a little careless with the ball and they cut it to 10. But it’s always a good anytime you go to Earlsboro and win,” — Stratford head coach Mark Qualls.

Record: Stratford is 13-5; Earlsboro 11-11.

Up Next: Stratford meets Paoli on Friday and Velma-Alma on Saturday at East Central University’s Kerr Activities Center in Ada.
