Ada — In the bottom of the second the ECU bats came alive, allowing for six runs scored and a 6-2 advantage.

Sophomore Lauren Reeves started the inning by drawing a walk and remained on first as the next batter recorded the first out of the inning.  Freshman Nicole Nordie sent Reeves to second after reaching on an error and Tigert sent Reeves home with a single down the left side.

Suydam loaded the bases after reaching on an error, setting up junior Samantha McGraw for an RBI when she singled down the right side.  Dow sent another run across the plate when she reached on an error and Mengwasser added a fourth run with a single up the middle.

The bases were still loaded for junior Kayci Snider, who sent two runs home with a fielder’s choice.

ECU held onto the lead for the next inning before TAMK scored eight runs in the top of the fourth to regain the lead.  The Javelins added to more runs in the top of the seventh for the 6-12 final.



Baseball Drops Opening Games of 2014 to Cameron

ADA – The East Central University baseball team fell 1-2 and 1-7 to Cameron University in the opening games of the 2014 season at Tiger Field.

The Tigers (0-2) tallied 11 hits in the two games and allowed 13.  Juniors Luc Pomales, Garrett Donohoe and Nick Spini all garnered two hits, including a double, each.  Spini added an RBI and hit .333 for the series.

Junior Lucas Kaplan threw a complete game in the opener, allowing six hits, two runs and striking out two.  Junior Icezack Flemming threw the first two innings of the second game, allowing seven hits and seven runs, while striking out seven batters.

The teams were slated to play a third game in the series, Sunday, Feb. 9, but it has been cancelled due to the impending winter weather in the area.
