NOTEWORTHY: Danielle Khoury poured in 16 points and recorded six steals and Cheyenne Galimba added 14 points, six steals and five rebounds as Konawa ripped Moss, 53-30, on Wednesday in consolation bracket play in the STAR Tournament at Konawa High School. Roshawn Warrior followed with six points and eight steals for the victorious Lady Tigers. Konawa doubled up Moss by a 14-7 count in the first quarter and settled for a 20-13 advantage at the break, It was 33-20, in favor of the Lady Tigers, after three quarters. Konawa went on a 20-10 run in the fourth.

COACH’S QUOTE: “We came out a little bit sluggish, but played better the second half. We’ve had some tough losses as of late and it was good for our girls to get back on the winning side,” — Konawa head coach Gordon Garner.

Record: Konawa is 5-7; Moss 2-11.

NOTEWORTHY: Luci Palmer canned two 3-pointers and finished with 15 points as Tupelo held off Varnum, 46-40, in consolation bracket play on Wednesday in the STAR Tournament in Konawa. Brittany Sanders and Hailey Ellis tossed in eight points apiece as Ellis connected on a pair of 3-point jumpers. The Lady Tigers led 11-6 after the first quarter, 22-21 at halftime and 32-25 through three periods.

NOTEWORTHY: Rob Penney tallied 14 points and C.J. Bills had 13 as Coalgate clipped Moss, 54-32, on Wednesday in consolation bracket play in the STAR Tournament. Dakota Powell, who had the only two 3-pointers of the night for the Lady Wildcats, finished with nine points. Coalgate led 17-9 after one quarter and went on to a 25-19 halftime advantage. The Lady Wildcats led 40-23 through three quarters.

Team Records: Moss 4-13; Coalgate 2-8.

NOTEWORTHY: Chisum Henry and John Umsted each fired in 18 points as Tupelo knocked off New Lima, 63-55, on Wednesday in the consolation bracket of the STAR Tournament. Umsted connected on four 3-pointers and Henry converted on three. Caito Kemp poured in a game-high 24 points and Elijah Brown had 16 to lead New Lima. A 15-5 run in the second quarter by Tupelo, proved to be the difference. New Lima led 18-17 after one quarter and the Tigers took a 32-23 halftime advantage.

COACH’S QUOTE: “It’s helped us that we’re becoming more balanced offensively. We beat a quality team and this type of game will do nothing but build confidence. We shot free throws very well down the stretch,” — Tupelo Head Coach Clay Weller.

Record: Tupelo is 10-7; New Lima 9-10.
