Oklahoma Lady Switchbacks 16U take first place with win over Her-icanes

Del City — Five first-inning runs helped Lady Switchbacks 16U to a 6-1 win over the Her-icanes on Sunday at the Del City Ballpark June Freebie Tournament. 

Lady Switchbacks 16U scored in the first on a two-run homerun by Kirsten Goodman, an RBI single by Kennedy Ray and a two-run error. 

Kirsten Goodman  went a perfect 3-3 at the plate for Lady Switchbacks 16U during the finals game.

Jacycee Gamble, in the circle for the Switchbacks, struck out four hitters en route to the Lady Switchbacks' win. Gamble allowed one earned run, five hits and no walks over five innings of play.

The third inning saw Her-icanes score its only run on the day on an RBI single by Bailey. 

On their way to the finals, the Lady Switchbacks fought through a tough bracket with great hitting performances from Shayla Campbell with a three-run homerun. On the defensive side, Karlie Sneed, Maise Anderson and Jaycee Gamble kept the circle hot. Great fielding and solid play assisted with the overall effort this weekend. Ray and Summer Horn held down home plate catching solidly throughout the tournament. 

The Oklahoma Lady Switchbacks have qualified and will play in the USSSA World Series in Gulf Shores, Alabama, July 21-26. 

Oklahoma's Lady Switchbacks are comprised of 11 young ladies from Bowlegs, Byng, Maud, Prague, Seminole, Wynnewood and Wetumka. The coaches, Shane Campbell and Larry Sneed, along with pitching coach Jackie Gamble, thank the community sponsors for their donations to help these young ladies excelling in the world of fastpitch softball.
