Ada —

Latta athletic physicals set

for July 29-30 at junior high

LATTA — Physicals for Latta high school and junior high athletes have been scheduled for July 29-30 at the middle school. 

Girls in grades 7-12 will meet at 6 p.m. July 29 while male athletes will meet at 6 p.m. July 30. There is no cost to the student athletes.

Stonewall school schedules 

athletic physicals Aug. 2

STONEWALL — Physicals for Stonewall athletes entering grades 6-12 will be Friday, Aug. 2, at 10 a.m. in the Murphy-Roberts gymnasium.

All athletes (basketball, softball, baseball, cheerleading) are required to have a physical before participation. The cost of the physical is $15.

All forms (three pages) that need to be completed and turned in the day of the physical can be found on the school website at


Officials summer meeting

Aug. 3 at Southmoore

OKLAHOMA CITY – Southmoore High School will serve as the host venue for the annual Oklahoma Officials Association Summer Meeting and Hall of Fame Ceremonies on Saturday, Aug. 3. 

The meeting, originally scheduled for Westmoore High School, was moved to Southmoore (2900 S. Santa Fe, Moore) to accommodate FEMA officials who are scheduled to meet the same day at Westmoore.

    Gabe Simons jump-started the Ada offense with his three-run homer to left field in the bottom of the second before the Cougars pushed across six more runs in the bottom of the fourth, sending Sulphur packing 9-1 Thursday evening at Cougar Field.

    As senior Walker Whitworth was bombing in the final five 3-point shots of his remarkable Ada High career, he was resetting the school’s triples record at 151. Across the way at the A-Town Barber Shop, barber Erick Gray did not even know he owned the record of 146, much less that someone was breaking it.
